The German TV channels of ProSieben, SAT.1 and KabelEins consolidated their information and news capabilities of their TV stations, digital accounts and the streaming portal Joyn under the new brand „:newstime“ in 2023.

Together with Florian Hausberger we participate in the pitch and crafted an intricate modular concept and successfully stood out among the competition. The fundamental concept revolved around building an entire design system around the two parts of the name „newstime“. We introduced the colon, universally recognized for separating hours and minutes in time time displays. Beyond its time-keeping function, the colon also conveys a sense of statement and message. Therefore the colon as a symbol serves as a visual anchor, encapsulating our conceptual approach in a simple punctuation mark.

This approach seamlessly blends traditional news principles with a modern and innovative appearance. We introduced the colour teal to infuse a touch of freshness and created a globe made out of dots which immediately triggers associations with the colon as a symbol. These dots brought to life through variations in size, luminosity and position to embrace a vivid keyvisual. We crafted a comprehensive design package in all areas through brand development, colour schemes, typography and motion language. This package spans elements like brand animations, intros, transitions, infographics, inserts, icons, studio backgrounds, social media templates, print ads and many more.
